Diagnostic Laparoscopy

Diagnostic laparoscopy is a process that allows a doctor to look directly at the details of a patient’s abdomen or pelvis, and also ovaries, small bowel, large bowel, fallopian tubes, uterus, appendix, liver, and gallbladder. This procedure is effectively and effortlessly done at Srishti Hospital. The process carries out under normal anesthesia, sometimes it is also done using local anesthesia, which freezes only the area affected by the surgery and let you to stay awake.

During the process the doctor makes a minute cut beneath the belly button (navel) and inserts a needle into the area. Carbon dioxide gas is passed into the area to make a clear way, creating a larger space to work in. This helps the doctor to have a better vision into the area.

A tube is inserted through the cut. A tiny video camera (laparoscope) goes through this tube and the abdomen and pelvis is viewed through the camera. In case, for other instruments for a better view additional small cuts may be made.

In gynecologic laparoscopy process, for a better vision to your fallopian tubes dye may be injected into your cervix area. After the test, the laparoscope and instruments are removed, and the cuts are closed
